CALIBRATION OF THE KERATOMETER Units Available For Calibraton The keratometer should be checked when first purchased and then periodically to be sure you are obtaining accurate readings. Prior to the actual calibration procedure you must first focus the eyepiece. If you do not know how to do this click here. To calibrate the instrument you need a set of calibration balls (ball bearings) or at least one calibration ball. A standard set of three balls, with radii that give readings of 40.50 D., 42.50 D. and 44.75 D., is shown, as is another calibration unit with just one 42.50 D. surface.
